If you were turning on the television today thinking that you just might here something different coming from another Major League Baseball player that has done steroids, then guess again. Alex Rodriguez held a press conference today down in Tampa, Florida where the Yankees are for spring training and it felt like any other steroid press conference filled with excuses. Rodriguez started off by reading off of papers about what he did and how he acted and from there it just went downhill. If you all remember just about a week ago A-Rod sat down with ESPN's Peter Gammons for an interview, and the things that came from that interview were just about the exact opposite of what came from this press conference. He completely changed his tune about not knowing what he took saying that he and a cousin got some over the counter substance called Boli from the Dominican Republic and it was a substance that helped give you energy. He also went on by saying "It really was amateur hour. We couldn't ask anyone. We didn't want to ask anyone." Rodriguez continued to stay on the fence saying he was not sure if he was doing wrong but he had a feeling. Well here's an idea, if you had a feeling then you most likely knew you were doing wrong.
It is unbelievable that these superstar athletes know about every single thing that goes into their body but once it's something that they are not supposed to be doing then they have know idea what it is. When will these athletes know that the American public is not stupid? Stop treating them like they don't have a clue because they are the ones being cheated. Yes he came clean, but he was forced to so the credit for that is really undeserved. If these players really want to know how to put all this shame behind them then America needs to see action. When will we see athletes go out to the communities and speak to the public about steroids? When will we see athletes really take a stand against steroids and make a plan to show the younger athletes that this is unacceptable? Who knows if we ever will see a superstar athlete use their shame for another person's gain but I can guarantee you one fact, the American public is sick of hearing the same excuses over and over. Do something about it.

I am just really tired of hearing about all of it in general. I just miss the days when baseball was just baseball and you didn't have to worry about all of this junk.
